Sheet Music
Horn
This work was premiered on March 12, 2011 in Los Angeles by Pablo Ortiz de Urbina, horn. It is a short and virtuostic work in which the music for the horn soloist is integrated within the orchestra. The com- position is based on a short motive of two measures which is transformed and modulates as it passes from one instrument to the other while it changes its sonority throughout the piece.Roger Julià makes his Hollywood debut with the score to John Irvin’s feature film of Ernest He- mingway’s The Garden Of Eden. He orchestrated the music Ozzy Osbourne sang at the Royal Variety Performance, with Guns’N Roses’ Slash on guitar. Roger studied in the graduate program of Film Scoring of the University of Southern California on the “La Caixa” scholarship, delivered by Juan Carlos I, King of Spain. USC granted Roger the Phil Marshall Merit Award in a special ceremony of honors. Previous to his studies in the States, Roger studied pop/rock composition and arranging with Richard Niles for a period of two years in London. Roger is very interested in the Catalan and Spanish folk music and he was honored to write the official anthem of his native town, Sant Fruitós de Bages (Spain).
